Given that Presidents’ Day will soon be upon us I’m sure you’re wondering whether there are any connections between presidents and the Hamptons. Happily, the answer is yes, but not in the way that you’re thinking: the fame lies with the first ladies. Julia Gardiner was born on Gardiners Island and her father had a house in East Hampton village. In 1844 she would become the second wife of President John Tyler, the tenth president. The other first lady you might be more familiar with—Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, born Jacqueline Lee Bouvier in Southampton on July 28, 1929. She spent her early years in New York City and also in East Hampton, at the Bouvier family estate, called Lasata (a Native American name for “place of peace”; Lasata is pictured below in 2007.)

And when I think of Jackie, I cannot but help think of her aunt and first cousin, respectively, Edith Ewing Bouvier Beale (1895–1977), known as “Big Edie,” and her daughter Edith Bouvier Beale (1917–2002), known as “Little Edie,” of Grey Gardens fame. If you dare, here’s the original trailer for the documentary, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AI62e0fRieo; a movie about their life, entitled Grey Gardens starred Jessica Lange and Drew Barrymore as the Edies, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LXmQfbp-LM.

So, yes, I think it’s a good time for us to talk about clutter—before they make a documentary about your garage! During these dreary winter days, take advantage of our home organization services. We will remove all that clutter in your home—whether it’s in your closets, attic, basement, home office, or hiding beneath your bed. If your car can no longer fit into the garage, we’ll take care of that space as well. Then we will organize what remains so that you can easily find everything you need, when you need it—no longer will it be buried under a mound of papers or clothes. This will reduce stress in your life and make your home a much more relaxing haven to unwind in after a long day.

Give us a call and we can come by to take a look at your situation, and we promise to leave the camcorder in the office.

Amitiés,
Jocelyne
