I think I can say that this month is most certainly an interesting moon month. First, July 20 is the anniversary of Neil Armstrong’s walk on the moon. It’s also a blue moon month: by the modern definition that’s any time there are two full moons in a single calendar month (for July 2015, July 2 and 31).

Over the Moon

As for the phrase “over the moon” its origin dates back to the well-known English nursery rhyme “High Diddle Diddle”:

High diddle diddle,
The Cat and the Fiddle,
The Cow jump’d over the Moon,
The little dog laugh’d to see such Craft,
And the Dish ran away with the Spoon.

After this use being “over the moon” was associated with great joy and excitement. And we humbly submit that it our goal for you our customer to be “over the moon” with the quality of our work, regardless of the task—housekeeping, property watching, window cleaning, errands—and not just in July, but every month!

And what should you be doing on July 31? Watching the blue moon, of course, and singing “Moon River.”

Amitiés,
Jocelyne

P.S. And one more important point—I’d suggest you stay away from those cleaning companies that show up “once in a blue moon.”
