Ah, August, traditionally the last month of vacation (les grandes vacances) in France. Since French workers are permitted five weeks of vacation (and civil servants seven weeks), many choose to vacation the entire month of August. There used to be a time when Paris practically shut down in August; these days it’s not so extreme, but still…it can be a challenge to find the perfect baguette or croissant. Where has everyone gone? Why, from Brittany to Biarritz to the Côte d’Azur, to name a few of the most popular destinations.

Naturally there are a great many vacation destinations in the US, but we tend to think the Hamptons is one of the best choices, and we hope that you have made the very wise decision to spend the entire month of August here.
