First, we want to wish all of you a happy new year, and we hope that your holidays were filled with much joy. In France, New Year’s Eve is referred to as la Saint-Sylvestre (a pope who held office from 314-355 AD), and quite naturally there is lots of champagne and even foie gras. January 6, the Epiphany, marks the unofficial end of the holidays. It is customary to serve a cake called a galette des rois (seen in the photo below)—hidden within is a fève, or small figurine, and the person who gets the slice of cake with the fève is crowned king or queen.

But there, as here, resolutions are made. Last year the #2 resolution was “getting organized” (#1? “lose weight”). Alas, it will probably come as no surprise that only 8% of people fulfill their resolutions. However, there is some good news: it turns out that people who make resolutions are 10 times more likely to attain their goals than people who don’t.

So our suggestion is that you make a resolution about your home and office. For starters, why not resolve to get the best cleaning service in the Hamptons? Or take advantage of our handyman services to do all those projects around the house you’ve been meaning to take care of? And now would be the perfect time to get your office organized. Whatever your particular resolution, all of us at A Votre Service! are prepared to do our part in helping you achieve your goals.

And as for last year’s #1 resolution, might we suggest you go easy on the galette des rois?

Amitiés,
Jocelyne
