Winter is “brutal” this year—we have had as much snow, ice and freezing temperature that we can take! For the homeowners that do not live full time in the Hamptons, this cold weather is a great concern and they need a caring watching eye looking over their home while they are away.

These are a few of our recommendations to face this harsh weather:

  • The house should be checked a minimum of once a week, after a snowstorm and every day during a deep freeze.
  • The heat should be raised from the basic 50/55° to 60/65° while the temperature is in the teens or below and particularly if there is a wind chill factor.
  • A pathway to the entrance door should be plowed and/or shoveled, salted or sanded as needed in order to provide easy and secure access to the house for service providers.
  • Driveways should be plowed not only for access but also so that the house does not look abandoned which could potentially attract vagrants.

If you are away from your Hamptons home and need assistance please call us, we will do everything we can to ensure your house is safe.
